A Help link is available in the right upper corner of every MD Consult page.  New users should visit this section to learn how to search and browse MD Consult efficiently.

MD Consult Newsletter
Virtual Library users can register to receive a newsletter containg news and updates to rsources.  Your Virtual Library user name and password will not work on links from the newsletter.  In most cases, the same information is available by accessing MD Consult through the Virtual Library.

Search
The default is to search all available resources.  Searches will be faster if you limit the search to a single resource type, such as textbooks.

Books
Textbooks are available in most major specialties.  The book with the most matches to a search term is listed first.  Book titles can be browsed by author or specialty and individual books can be browsed by table of contents or index.

Journals
The full text of articles is available from journals published by the MD Consult partners, or journals that provide free full text on the Internet (such as the Canadian Medical Association Journal).  Abstracts are available from other journals indexed in MEDLINE.  For abstracts of very recent articles, visit http://www.pubmed.gov/.

The Clinics
This section contains the full text of monographs from the "Clinics" of publications, such as "Medical Clinics of North America".  For easier searching, MD Consult lists them as a unique section.

Patient Education
Useful patient information handouts are available, in both English and Spanish.  These can be customized to suit your individual practice.

Drugs
The Drugs section contains American drug information provided by "Gold Standard".  Information about unique Canadian products and brand names may be limited.  For Canadian drug information, visit the e-Therapeutics section of the Virtual Library

Clinical Practice Guidelines
The guidelines are mainly from American sources.  For Canadian guidelines, visit the "Clinical Resources" section of the Canadian Medical Association website (http://cma.ca/).
