Input Devices

Devices used to enter information into a computer

Keyboard

  • Different brands of keyboards have a different feel
  • Keyboards on some laptops may have smaller keys

Mouse

  • Used to point to objects on the video display
  • Scrolling mice have an extra control for scrolling the video display up or down
  • Optical mice are more sensitive and have no moving parts

Touch Panel

  • An alternate pointing device on some laptops
  • The user moves a finger on a touch-sensitive panel

Joystick

  • An alternate pointing device on some laptops
  • A small button built into the keyboard itself

  • A keyboard and mouse are standard

Latitude Laptops

  • A keyboard, touch panel and joystick are standard
  • An external mouse option is available (may be standard)
