KeyboardCursor
- An "I-beam" that indicates the current position of the mouse pointer
- Changes to an "arrow" when outside the text display area
Insertion Point
- A flashing solid bar
- Indicates where keyboard entries will be placed in a document
- Can be moved to a new location by left-clicking the mouse

- Open a word-processing program
- Create a document containing your name, address and phone number
- Save the document to the diskette or hard drive
Highlighting (also known as "Selecting")
- A technique to work with a block of text
- Selected text
1. Double-click on a word 2. Left-click and drag across a block of text 3. Left click at the start of the text, then Shift-click at the end of the text
Copy, Cut & Paste
- Copy selected information within a document
- Available from the "Edit" menu of most Window programs
- Uses the Windows "Clipboard" function
Text Boxes
- Sometimes the Insertion is already flashing inside the box
- If not, click inside the box before entering text
