Service
Basic Service Contract
- Read the basic service agreement carefully before purchase
Extended Service Contract
- Evaluate the need for an extended service contract carefully
- Most computers are pre-tested ("burnt in") before leaving the factory
- If a computer component is going to fail, it will usually do so within the first year
- If a computer is more than three years old, consider replacing it instead of fixing it
Warranty
- Usually covers parts and labour for the first year
- Determine who will provide the service before you purchase the machine
- Consider dealing with a vendor who services what they sell
Dell ComputersService - Basic service is for one year of next-business-day on-site service
- May not be available in isolated rural communities!
